Last Notes, Tokyo

We flew out from Haneda Airport, Tokyo back to Songshan Airport, Taipei. At the Haneda Airport, while we were taking the train, we saw this snow-capped mountain - Mount Fuji? If it is Mount Fuji, I'm glad we saw it as we missed seeing it at Gotemba Premium Outlet Mall.

Some other buys in Tokyo ... a jacket fm Uniqlo ...

Cashmere blend cable knit tops, also from Uniqlo ...

Black wool with crochet lace fringe from Earth Music & Ecology ...

Japanese cloths from the Haneda Airport - by Raak ... love all the prints!

Made a lil bag for my bear :)

Honmura An, Roppongi, Tokyo

On our last day in Tokyo, we took my aunt and uncle to this restaurant - Honmura An - to thank them for putting us up those few days. My mom had loved this restaurant when she last went to Tokyo (my aunt and uncle had recommended the place to her), and it was a truly fabulous recommendation. It turned out to be our best meal in Tokyo that trip :)

The boss of Honmura An personally designed a menu for us.

First up: roasted gingko nuts ...

Codfish eggs ... so creamy!

Fried baby potatoes ... somehow Honmura An manages to elevate the most basic and simplest food into a gastronomic delight ... oishi!

Braised radish with smoked duck ...

Tempura prawns, fish. lotus roots, mushrooms etc ...

We were given a choice of soba noodles (their speciality) with sesame sauce ....

I chose soba noodles with uni/sea urchin ... delish!!!!

Fruits to round off the meal ...

Pierre Hermes, Ginza, Tokyo

Although I'd been to Tokyo several times, I somehow I never managed to make it to Pierre Hermes. As that was something that left me filled with regret after each trip, I decided to make it a point to visit Pierre Hermes this time.

I ordered a macaron set which included 3 macarons of my choice and coffee/tea ...
(unfortunately, no pics were allowed in the salon downstairs which had displays of rainbow coloured macarons) ... I chose the rose, pistachio and salted caramel macarons ...

To satisfy my sweet tooth, I also chose this: raspberry framboise (erm ... I fear I've forgotten the name of this dessert ... blush blush ... it was delicious nevertheless :))

Henri Charpentier, Ginza, Tokyo

The last time I was in Osaka, I came across a Henri Charpentier counter and was impressed by their cookies and packaging. So, when I found out that they had a boutique in Ginza, I simply had to pay a visit ...

Check out that grand entrance!

There was a counter for just cookies (including madeleines and financiers) ...

And another counter for these beautifully decorated cakes ...

These are what I brought home with me :) ....

Creme Biscuits ...

Financier and Madeleine ...

Tsujiki Fish Market, Tokyo

For us, a trip to Tokyo is never complete without a visit to Tsujiki Fish Market.

Some delicious looking fruits at the market ...

What an unusual looking persimmon!

Fish roe ...

Can you guess what the shop displaying this Christmas tree sells? Scrubs of course! Hahaha ...

A sashimi/sushi restaurant in Tsujiki Fish Market ...
