My aunt and uncle who we bunked in with in Tokyo took us to the Ibaraki Flower Park and Kasama Pottery Village, as well as Ami Premium Outlet Mall. (I later saw on a board in the Hong Kong Airport that there was a travel warning given against going to the Ibaraki prefecture due to the proximity to the Fukoshima nuclear plant meltdown/radiation risk ... hmmm ....)
Along the way to the Ibaraki Flower Park and Kasama Pottery Village, we came across some nashi pear and persimmon farms .... here's a basket of Japanese nashi pears we bought ...
A proud owner of the persimmon farm beaming for the camera :) ...
Gorgeous fruit-laden persimmon trees ...
Ibaraki Flower Park ...
At the entrance of the park, there was a little store selling fresh produce from the region ...
Mushrooms ...
Japanese ginko nuts ...
DELICIOUS figs!
Kasama Pottery Village ...
Soba noodles ... yum yum ...
Naturally, with chestnuts in season, we couldn't resist getting some chestnut ice cream ...
At the Ami Premium Outlet Mall ... look at how huge this speckled grey dog is compared to that little girl! ...
We rounded off the day with dinner at Denny's back in Tokyo ... here's our hamburger rice set ...
My aunt and uncle had saved this delicious chestnut swiss roll cake for us to try ... it was really good!
We also had the fruits we had bought earlier that day ...
the figs ... oh wow .... oh wow ... these were really really really good! You know how expensive Japanese fruits are? I always wondered why and when my aunt told me that it was like eating perfumed fruits, I couldn't understand ... till I had these delicious figs and nashi pears ...
