Shanghai Botanical Gardens


It was at the tail end of the plum and cherry blossom season when a friend wanted to go visit the Shanghai Botanical Gardens.  As I was curious about it as well, we decided to make an excursion out of it.

Bamboo grove ...





Now that's a sight one doesn't normally see in botanical gardens!  Fish!  People are actually allowed to fish in the ponds in the garden!  We saw these fish getting caught, then being brought to a weighing station for payment I guess.  Fascinating!


Now back to the flora and fauna ... lovely tulips ...


Look at that kaleidoscope of colours!




As with all places that have such beautiful scenery, we saw wedding couples getting their photos taken.  This photographer even arranged for his assistant to sort of wave the train to achieve this billowing effect for the bride's veil ...
