for the last 4 days

This is the view from my hotel:

Movenpick Hotel

We were deciding between

1) Sofitel Metropole Hotel

(the grand dame of Hanoi)

2) Hilton Opera Hotel

(located just next to the Opera House)

3) Movenpick Hotel

We eventually settled on Movenpick cos of the price

and the good reviews on trip advisor.

It does indeed have a pretty good location

- just minutes walk to the old quarters

which is full of lovely old buildings,

some refurbished, some in original condition.

And this area has lane after lane of shops

- each lane specialising in certain goods.

Like there is a silk lane, a shoe lane ...

you get the picture.
