CNY Lantern Festival in Taipei


Sunday was the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, which we normally celebrate by having "tang yuan" - which are basically like Japanese mochi with fillings inside, like ground peanuts, red bean, green bean or black sesame.

In Taipei, they celebrate this day by carrying lanterns - hence the lantern festival. In Spore, we have our lantern festival during the mid-autumn festival. Interesting how Chinese in different parts of the world celebrate Chinese festivals differently.

Anyhow, we went past the lantern festival exhibition at Taipei City Hall yesterday, and popped in to have a look. Below is a series of pics I took of the beautiful lanterns created to depict a Chinese story titled The Land of Peach Blossoms:
